Swimming, Ostriches, and Sesame Street

We've been busier than usual around here!

We started of the week with Dagny's first swimming lessons.  I was worried that she might not cooperate with the lifeguard...but she had an instant bond with Jenny the instructor.  Dagny shook her hand and said "Hi"...Jenny asked if she wanted to go swimming with her and Dagny said "Yes!"...and they were best friends for the next half hour.  Right now she's just trying to get her over her fear of putting her face in the water.  Jenny said she was off to a great start though already kicking her feet and using her arms. Our second lesson was canceled yesterday due to lightning (just heat lighting--no rain produced of course!)  I can't wait to bring her back Monday to see how does!

Wednesday we visited an Ostrich Ranch in Tehachapi with a group of kids from the base.  She got to hold a real ostrich egg and feed some of them.  The woman guiding the tour was very informative and extremely into ostriches!  We learned a lot....for example; an ostrich can apparently kick a lion's head off.  Who knew?  They also had an ostrich egg race, obstacle course, and a dusty playground.

And today the USO Sesame Street show came to the base for a free performance.  Dagny was most excited to see Cookie Monster and the crew trucks outside. She danced and clapped the whole time!
